Jay Lenos Thanks Wound Soldier With a New Car

Untitled

Jay Leno is a car lover.  Since retiring from the late show, he has been inviting audiences into his vast garage to see his magnificent collection.  So when it comes time to think of something to give someone a gift, it is a sure bet it is going to be car related.

Leno wanted to find a way to express his love for the troops while visiting them in Afghanistan.  He wanted to do something incredibly special that would provide a moment away from the chaos of combat and life away from home.  He created a lottery for the injured soldiers to pick one from random and give him something special.

The name that won the lottery was Cpl. Ethan Leberge.  He was injured by a suicide bomb that left two other soldier dead and seriously injuring him.

Jay Leno invited Cpl. Leberge for a joyride in the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.  In a heartbreaking moment, Jay asks him what he thought of the ride and Leberge responded with “Yeah I wouldn’t mind having one of these” and Leno hands him the keys telling him that “It’s yours.”  A hug later Leno reminds him that “America loves you.  Don’t get any tickets.”

First Production 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat to be Auctioned

15-la-ex-04

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is the most powerful and fastest muscle car ever built.  Any muscle car fan has to be drooling in anticipation of a chance to get their hands on and/or try the Challenger SRT for themselves.  On September 27th, Dodge will be giving one lucky person the chance to drive away in a one-of-a-kind Challenger.

The Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas 2014 Auction is happening during September 25th thru the 27th.  On the final day of the auction, Dodge is putting up a special treat: The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.  It will not be just any old Challenger Hellcat, but the first VIN number.  That’s right, a 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with the VIN number 0001 could be yours.

“The 2015 Challenger Hellcat is already guaranteed to be one of the hottest cars that will roll through the Barret-Jackson auction lanes in decades to come,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO of both Dodge and SRT brands.  “The VIN 0001 being auctioned this year is the ultimate one-of-one collectible 2015 Dodge Challenger, as Dodge is ensuring there will never be another one like it.”

The auctioned off Challenger Hellcat will include plenty of extras indicating how awesome the owner is for having the first Hellcat.  There is a HEMI painted presentation box with a VIN0001 electronic vehicle build book and even a Laguna Leather iPad sleeve.  The buyer even gets a birth certificate for their bouncing, baby Challenger.

An added bonus to the auction is that the bidding and consignment fees will be waived.  That means that however much this Challenger goes for, one hundred percent of the amount will be going to Opportunity Village, a non-profit for the Las Vegas area that benefits individuals with significant intellectual disabilities.

Not only will the lucky winner get to have a one-of-a-kind Challenger SRT, but they get to know the fortune they will be handing over to get it will be going all towards a great cause.  I call that a win-win.

For the rest of us, we will continue to drool over all the pictures and footage of this new muscle car and the intense speeds it can achieve all while whispering “one day?” to anyone in ear reach.  One day 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, one day.

Unique 2013 SRT Viper GTS Up for Auction

Sons-Main

At an auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, auto aficionados will get a chance to drive away in a truly one-of-a-kind 2013 SRT Viper GTS.

In January, The Sons of Italy Foundation will be holding an auction with proceeds going towards scholarships and medical research.  To boost awareness and to inspire charity from car lovers, the auction will have a custom 2013 SRT Viper GTS unlike anything else on the road.

The Viper is built specifically for this charity auction.  For that reason the Viper is designed with nods to Italian heritage.  For example, the exterior paint is “Avorio Pearla”, for pearl white, as a nod to the colors in the Italian flag.  The national colors are also used in other location, such as on the GTS badge resting just above the glovebox.  Other personalized features include tan-leather seats and interior.

Who knows just how much this beauty is going to take in this January, but it’s hard not to see it helping both a charity looking for funding to provide to philanthropic work and a Viper-lover achieve a dream of being as one-of-a-kind as his vehicle.
