2013 SRT Viper Gets Hennessey Treatment

The tinkerers over at Hennessey Performance have been notorious for their custom work on vehicles and the insane amount of raw power they are able to unleash through their modifications.  They put the 2013 SRT Viper under the knife and built one monster of a machine.  Be wary, this thing may melt some faces.

The nick-name they’ve given their Viper Frankenstein is the appropriate Venom 700R.  In order to achieve maximum results, they refitted the Viper with a new high-end cat exhaust, stainless long tube headers, and a K&N air filter.

What the Venom 700R delivers in the end is nothing short of spectacular.  This supped up Viper is capable of 0 to 60 in 3.1 seconds and tops out at 216 miles per hour.  That puts it equal with the F12 Berlinetta.  This thing is certainly a monster.

Hennessey posted a video of their Viper creation up on YouTube and it’s a must see for anyone craving the raw power that only the Viper can deliver on.  Have a look:

SRT Adds New Colors and Rain Mode to the SRT Viper

2014-srt-viper-new-colors_100440296_m

The 2014 SRT Viper has been adding a lot of upgrades already.  This one, as far as major changes go, is quite minor in the long run and is meant more to appeal to aesthetic demand than to power.

The Viper is getting a series of additional color choices for aspiring racer to get.  The first of three is the Billet Silver which is based on the popular look for the SRT Viper GTS-R racer.  Next up is the GTS-R Blue, my personal favorite, and it matches the color that is on the roof of the Viper GTS-R.  Finishing off the list of new colors is the Anodized Carbon Special Edition.  That’s just a very long and special way of saying matte black.

Color isn’t the only thing being added to the SRT Viper, however.  A new traction control feature is being included in future models as well.  This new mode is being called “Rain Mode” and is designed for the the purpose of its namesake, having better control in the rain.  It is to help drivers handle the supercar under slippery road conditions in an effort to help protect drivers who fulfilled a fantasy of driving a Viper.

With this extra addition, it’s clear that SRT is making sure that the Viper is just as notorious for safety as it is for speed and look.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Makes Real-Life Banshee for Contest

Bravado-Banshee.jpg&MaxW=630September is a big month for gaming.  After a long wait, the infamous and popular series Grand Theft Auto gets a brand new entry to the franchise and it’s sure to be a hit.  The game series has always used fictional recreations of various vehicles for use in the game.  Car enthusiasts have always been able to spy little give-aways that pointed to what car was used as the basis of the model.  One of the most popular of which is the Banshee.  In car, it’s always been one of the fastest cars to get around in.  Anyone who took a look knew from the curves just what car was used to make it, the Viper.

With the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 on the horizon, Rockstar Games- the game developers- have put together a real-life version of the popular Banshee to give away to a lucky gamer.  They’re teaming up with Gamestop to make it happen and you can enter and see the full details here.

It was clear how much the Banshee looks like a modded Viper in-game, but when see it in real life, it’s even clearer.  While the company hasn’t expressly said what was used to make the real Banshee, it’s so obvious that it doesn’t even really need to be mentioned.  What other car would they want to use to make the fastest in-game car come to life?
