Dodge SRT Viper Website Lets User Customize Their Viper

Custom SRT Viper Website - SRTDealerNY

Ever wanted to design your own car?  Dodge is giving people a chance to put their own unique twist on the Viper using their website.

If you’re looking for something to waste an entire day on, then visit Dodge’s new page at the SRT website.  There it allows for anyone to design a Viper.  Every aspect is up for customization and it is worth pouring hours over to come up with a truly one-of-a-kind Dodge SRT Viper.

Dodge states that there are more than 25 million different combinations possible.  Over 8,000 exterior color options, 24,000 stripe colors, 11 wheel options, and more.  After going through each option and choosing which ever suits them the most, users can then sit inside the virtual cockpit and be treated to what it would be like to really be in their Viper.  Users can also change the environment to see how their Viper looks in real life.

Once someone has built their perfect Viper, they can download it and share it among friends or have as a wallpaper for their home PC or smart phone.

Go have fun, but don’t say I didn’t warn you about how time consuming this thing is.  It is incredibly fun!

Has the Viper Prototype at South Puget Sound Community College Been Saved?

SRT Viper

A while back, there was a bitter story about Chrysler asking a school to destroy their ’93 Viper prototype. Chrysler had loaned out the car but with the knowledge that the auto-maker still had ownership of it. That meant when the company decided the prototype needed to be destroyed, so be it. The school wanted to keep the Viper around to use as a teaching tool for the students. So the school struggled to convince Chrysler to let them keep the Viper around rather than sending it off to be destroyed.

Originally, it seemed that Chrysler was going to stay firm in keeping the school accountable for destroying the Viper. Now, it seems that they may have been convinced to let this one slide.

A graduate of the school, Storm Hudson, started “Operation Save the Vipers” to help keep the Viper prototype at the school. According to Motor Authority, his efforts may have paid off with Chrysler coming around to the idea of giving the Viper prototype to the school permanently.

While the final outcome still hasn’t been decided, it does appear that Chrysler is being receptive to the efforts being mounted to save a classic pre-production model of the viper.

SRT Viper is One of the Fastest American-Made Cars

Many Americans feel a certain need when it comes to their vehicles and that is the need for speed. While some may shop around for comfort and for being able to hold more stuff, others simply want a vehicle that goes fast. American car makers became famous for their muscle cars and the power that they could push out. Since then, the European automakers have put together an impressive competitive list. Wall St Cheat Sheet put together a list of American cars that are speed-machines and the SRT Viper made the cut.

The engineers at SRT have been dutiful in producing the highest quality in the Viper. Back when Dodge was producing the Viper, the name became known for its speed. SRT did not want to disappoint the fans. They worked hard to bring back the Viper with a familiar look but with all necessary upgrades to keep it competitive in today’s world.

The Viper has a 8.4 liter V10 engine and is capable of 640 horsepower. That means the Viper can make zero to 60 in about 3 seconds. SRT has been making significant tweaks every moment they can to keep the Viper on the edge with the competition from Ford and Chevrolet. And, while Chrysler is owned by Fiat, an Italian company, it is still put together here in the States.
