Dodge Charger SRT Getting Challenger Hellcat’s Engine?

Much has been said already of the immense power expected to come out the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.  The incredibly powerful engine, the 6.2-liter Hemi V8, will possibly get at 600 horsepower which would make that the most powerful V8 the automaker has ever made.  However, the supped-up muscle car may not be the only vehicle in the Dodge line-up getting a considerable boost from this engine.

The Challenger is not the only Hellcat in the family.  In an article on Jalopnik, they report that the Charger will be getting the same engine.  Quoting Automotive News, they say “the supercharged Hellcat is expected to migrate to other SRT vehicles, including the Charger SRT.”

Jalopnik even goes one step further and takes a glimpse at the image Chrysler put out when they unveiled their new five-year plan.  Right there, smack-dap in the upper right corner is listing for a SRT Charger.  If this is true and the Charger does get the engine that Challenger Hellcat is using, then that would make the new SRT Charger the fastest sedan in America.

The rest of the article is dedicated to the writer’s passion for the Charger.  He also goes into greater depth of what it means to have such a V8 available to drivers.  Recent changes in gas prices and emission regulations have decreased the choices for consumers when it comes to more powerful engines.  He’s also excited for the Charger since he sees it as more of a callback to classic American muscle sedan.  Choice is never a bad thing when it comes to engine options in a car.
