SRT Viper: Best Sports Car Ever Built!

Scott Burgess over at Aol Autos got his hands on the new SRT Viper and had some thoughts to share on the newly re-introduced super car.

Before you move forward, one must look back at the road traveled.  This is very true with the Viper.  It had earned renowned as a monster of raw energy back in its prime.  This allows the writer to vent on his gripes with the original.  Even though the classic was a fantastic drive, it was a pain to control.  That doesn’t happen to be the case any longer.

Burgess heaps the praise on for the new Viper, going as far as not to only call it the best car that Chrysler has put together, but also one of the best sports car ever built.

The picture painted on the whole of the Viper is quite clear, that raw power is no longer a power thanks to the engineers over at SRT.  Improvements were made with purpose and never forget the pedigree that made Viper such a name to begin with.

As many other reviewers have made mention of, the interior seems to be the place of highest upgrade.  No longer does a drive have to fear burn marks on their legs while in cramped quarters.  The leather surfaces give a “smell like money when you sit down.”

Jalopnik Reviews 2013 SRT Viper GTS

How would you like to be called up by Chrysler one morning and asked to test drive the new SRT Viper? What if they sweetened the deal by flying you out to California to compare said test drive with the 2006 Viper?  Such seems to be the life of a writer for Jaloponik which causes me all kinds of jealous rage.

Mike Spinelli was given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the highly anticipated 2013 SRT Viper GTS. What was his take on it? I would say he walked away so impressed that it left him dizzy. So much so that he is telling his readers to to realigned their expectations of the modern sports car.

His love for the Viper is apparently through-out. Most notably is how much his thoughts on the interior design has changed. The old insides where “cramped, cheap, and had a transmission tunnel that could cook a standing rib roast.” Thanks to the upgrades that were made with the Kevlar cushion and fiberglass shell, those previous complaints are gone. “The cockpit feels more snug, which is a subtle difference, but an important one.”

All it took was spending a day with the past and present of the Viper to turn one car lover into a devoted fan of the new SRT. “The new Viper is everything a sports car should be, tight, capable, immensely powerful, usable, and absolutely out of its goddamn mind.”
