New SRT Viper in the Next Five Years?

V2-130139998.jpg&maxW=630The SRT Viper is just getting out into the wild. Even Jay Leno was only able to get his hands on his three Vipers. Most companies when they’ve finished producing one of the most anticipated vehicles of the year would take a break before figuring out what to tackle next. Doesn’t look like the people behind the Viper are ready to take that vacation just yet.

GTSpirit.com has gotten their hands on a leaked online showing the five year plan that Chrysler has. Every major make and model will be seeing something new on the horizon. For the SRT brand, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the expected to introduce a solid rival to the current Viper. Power-wise, the Corvette is looking to give the Viper a run for its money. That means in order to keep up, the Viper will probably be getting an upgrade.

No word on anything official, even the listed five-year plan is pretty scarce on details. What comes next could be a massive overhaul to create a Viper like the Viper SRT10 ACR. It could just be the same build with a new engine or other modifications underneath the hood. Only the future will tell with what comes next. It’s just good to know that the team at SRT is not looking to fall behind anytime soon.

Jay Leno’s Garage Adds Three 2013 SRT Viper

srt-viper-gal-091It’s never been a well-kept secret of the immense love that Jay Leno has for automobiles.  He’s collection of cars is legendary.  Never seems like it’ll be enough to satisfy him, however, as he’ll have to put in a new parking space to his garage to accommodate his recent purchase.

Motor Authority has the full story on Jay Leno getting his hands on the new 2013 SRT Viper.  Actually, it’s not a single Viper, but he bought three of them.  SRT seemed to be more than happy to accommodate the purchase, sending Ralph Gilles, CEO of SRT, out personally to delivery one of them.  The whole drive took him 4 days to drive all the way from Florida, and through a blizzard, to get to the final destination.

Leno himself has been a big fan of the Viper series ever since the first release back in 92.  He was super excited to finally get a Viper for himself but was unable to at this point due to it not being street legal.  That’s no longer the cause as the Viper has finally gotten itself out onto show floors.  Leno definitely jumped at the chance to get behind the wheel first chance her got.

Take a look at the full video to see both Giles and Leno, two massive car lovers, run down the details on the new SRT Viper and show their love for the new design.

First SRT Viper Buyer Gets Special Celebration

UntitledThere was a huge reason to celebrate over at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit. The workers had the special occasion of delivering the first production SRT Viper to a lucky new driver. It was such a big deal that even Sergio Marchionne, Chrysler’s CEO, showed up.

Scott Thomas has the honor of being the first owner of the awesome new Viper. He was personally presented it by both Sergio Marchionne and the President of SRT Ralph Gilles.

The entire experience was a strange but amazing thing to Thomas who said about it, “Today’s surreal, I never thought I would have the opportunity to experience something quite like this. To be able to take the keys from the Chairman and CEO of Chrysler is incredible.”

For the rest of us unable to pay a personal visit to the plant where the Viper is being constructed, the New York Times has us covered. They recently put up an incredible peak at the process that goes into building the supercar.

The SRT Viper has a V-10 engine capable of 640 horsepower at 6,150 rpm. The standard Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission helps get better response with closer gear ratios. The shift throws have a 12.5 percent reduction to help give the Viper top-speed performance.
