SR014_001DG__midThis past weekend, thousands of car fans gathered in Irvine, California. They attended the eighth annual Spring Festival of LXs. The event calls to enthusiasts from all across the states to come and show off their awesome collection of Chrysler’s and Dodge’s. The LX in the title stands for the next generations platforms for LX (Chrysler 300), LC (Dodge Challenger) and LD (Dodge Charger).

About 2,500 people showed up with 1,000 different Chrysler, Dodge, and SRT vehicles. They planned on basking in the joy that comes with a car event of this status. What they didn’t plan on was the SRT CEO Ralph Gilles showing up with a surprise.

New SRT Viper in the Next Five Years?

V2-130139998.jpg&maxW=630The SRT Viper is just getting out into the wild. Even Jay Leno was only able to get his hands on his three Vipers. Most companies when they’ve finished producing one of the most anticipated vehicles of the year would take a break before figuring out what to tackle next. Doesn’t look like the people behind the Viper are ready to take that vacation just yet.

GTSpirit.com has gotten their hands on a leaked online showing the five year plan that Chrysler has. Every major make and model will be seeing something new on the horizon. For the SRT brand, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the expected to introduce a solid rival to the current Viper. Power-wise, the Corvette is looking to give the Viper a run for its money. That means in order to keep up, the Viper will probably be getting an upgrade.

No word on anything official, even the listed five-year plan is pretty scarce on details. What comes next could be a massive overhaul to create a Viper like the Viper SRT10 ACR. It could just be the same build with a new engine or other modifications underneath the hood. Only the future will tell with what comes next. It’s just good to know that the team at SRT is not looking to fall behind anytime soon.

SRT Viper: Best Sports Car Ever Built!

Scott Burgess over at Aol Autos got his hands on the new SRT Viper and had some thoughts to share on the newly re-introduced super car.

Before you move forward, one must look back at the road traveled.  This is very true with the Viper.  It had earned renowned as a monster of raw energy back in its prime.  This allows the writer to vent on his gripes with the original.  Even though the classic was a fantastic drive, it was a pain to control.  That doesn’t happen to be the case any longer.

Burgess heaps the praise on for the new Viper, going as far as not to only call it the best car that Chrysler has put together, but also one of the best sports car ever built.

The picture painted on the whole of the Viper is quite clear, that raw power is no longer a power thanks to the engineers over at SRT.  Improvements were made with purpose and never forget the pedigree that made Viper such a name to begin with.

As many other reviewers have made mention of, the interior seems to be the place of highest upgrade.  No longer does a drive have to fear burn marks on their legs while in cramped quarters.  The leather surfaces give a “smell like money when you sit down.”
