The Dodge Demon Gets an Exorcism in New Commercial

The Dodge Demon is one of the coolest vehicles on the market.  It is impossible to see it in action and not be able to take your eyes off of it.  It’s perfectly designed for showing off.  In the hands of experienced drivers and film-makers, the result is beautiful.

Pennzoil has a history of making SRT vehicles look amazing on screen.  They did it for the Dodge SRT Viper in their video “The Last Viper” and have brought that same vision to the Dodge Demon.  Their lastest video is “Exorcising the Demon” and it is just awesome.

The video is a muscle-car junkies dream come true.  No talking, no breakdown of the mechanical side of the Dodge; simply raw and beautifully shot footage of the Demon racing down streets with the constant roar of an engine that sounds like it is about to break the sound-barrier.  The driver races it down streets and around corners as the world around it bends and shakes to its power.  Check it out here:

Sometimes it feels like auto news is just rumors about this and rumors about that. It is on days like today that it finally feels nice to talk about something concrete. In this case, it is regarding a new engine that Chrysler has been working on which they have now revealed.

The rumor was that a new engine was being developed by the nickname of ‘Hellcat.’ It was supposed to be the answer to allow the SRT team get a more powerful engine capable of competing with rival supercars. Turns out that the rumor is in fact true. Chrysler announced that the new engine is a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine.

The new V-8 engine will be put to use in both the SRT Dodge Charger and Challenger. The two SRT Dodge vehicles just got a new look and update that was shown off at the 2014 New York Auto Show with rumors of all-new versions coming in 2018.

What about the name of ‘Hellcat?” According to Automobile mag, who also covered the reveal of the new engine, the future of the Hellcat is still in flux. The spy photos of a Challenger with a hood scoop is not been designated Hellcat yet. He says that the name has been assigned to yet so there might still be a Hellcat surprise down the road.
