Jeff Dunham Poses with Two Eras of Dodge Challenger

Jeff Duham is notable for being a comedian and a ventriloquist, but he is also a rabid car enthusiast. A while back, Dodge teamed up with him to promote the UltraViolet Dodge Challenger SRT8. He has a long running love for Dodge and he wanted to show it to Jalopnik.

In an email to the website, Dunham included a picture showing him between a 1970 Dodge Challenger and a new Challenger SRT Hellcat. Both have the same matching color of sublime green as Dunham stands beaming with pride, as anyone should be if they owned these two marvelous machines.

He wrote in the email that getting the new Hellcat was “…a no-brainer… I have a 1970 Sublime (green) Dodge Challenger RT 4 speed 440 6-pack with hood blackout decal and black side stripes, and comes Chrysler offering the Needs-no-introduction-baddass-Hellcat in Sublime metallic with a black aluminum hood…”

I can’t really fault that logic. If I was the lucky owner of a 1970 Challenger, I would go crazy over the Hellcat. Not only is it one of the most powerful muscle cars out there, there’s a lot of little touches in the design to make it the spiritual successor to the 70’s Challenger. Even Duhman refers to the two as “Grandpa and grandson.”

To get that new Hellcat SRT, however, sacrifice had to be made. Dunham had to ditch his Prius. “I dumped the f-ing blue Prius and got one.” Seeing what he traded up to get, I’d say it was worth it.

Jeff Dunham Teams up with SRT for Project Ultraviolet

The team at SRT is planning a surprise for the SEMA show. Fans of comedy and of ventriloquism have much to look forward to from the announcement that Allpar is covering.

Fans of Jeff Dunham have enjoyed his work due to the quirky characters he has put together. What they might not know about the comedian is that he is a huge car nut. Ever since he bought his first Hot Wheels in his childhood, he’s had a passion for muscle cars. That love and enthusiasm for high-powered cars is what brought SRT to his door step to ask for help in creating a new show car for the upcoming SEMA show.

Capturing the experience on YouTube, Jeff Dunham met with the designers at SRT to bring Project Ultraviolet to life. The concept began with a black 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and the rest of the video follows the choices Dunham and the team are planning to make. Watch the first episode here:
