The 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show is one of the most exciting shows to look forward to for car fans.  Every year, Mopar has rolled out several modified vehicles to show off to the car world at the SEMA show.  What is coming for this year’s show?  Mopar is being mean and has released some teaser images for what will be shown at SEMA 2016.

The SEMA 2016 show will be taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center November 1st thru the 4th.  Fiat-Chrysler and Mopar will have a live webcast of their press event on November 1st when they lift the curtain on their SEMA 2016 Mopar vehicles.

The teases Mopar released hint at some killer modified vehicles they have planned for this year.  The teases show a Dodge Challenger, Chrysler Pacifica, a Jeep Wrangler, and a Ram Power Wagon.  The Dodge Challenger looks incredibly sinister with the black paint job and the cool line decals wrapping around the engine vent on the hood.  Mopar’s modifications on Wrangler is always fun and the sketch certainly shows a unique design for the roof and a traditional hood.  Being the 75th anniversary of Jeep, I’m sure Mopar has something special planned for the Wrangler to celebrate.  Lastly, the Pacifica may be the most interesting just to see what Mopar can do with such a popular new minivan.

2016 Dodge Viper ACR Gets Powerful Upgrade from Geiger Cars

While the Dodge Viper SRT may be getting shelved, that hasn’t stopped anyone from trying to coax the most potential from an already powerful supercar.  The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is one of the fastest track cars there is.  That isn’t good enough for German tuning company Geiger Cars.  They’ve gotten under the hood and have super-powered the ACR to get it to push even more horsepower.

Geiger has a reputation for their tuning of performance vehicles.  Their upgrades to the ACR include ECU tuned cylinder heads, sports catalytic converters, and a stainless steel sports exhaust system.  It boosts the performance of the ACT’s 8.4-liter V10 engine and gives it 765 horsepower!

The car itself has also been upgraded to help drivers maintain control of all this power.  The “Extreme Aero Package” is a carbon fiber body kit.  All-in-all for Dodge Viper owners or perspective owners, it appears that Geiger has figured out how to really unleash the potential of the supercar.

Turns Out the Viper ACR Set a Track Record!

In the world of Dodge and SRT, the conversation is centered around the Hellcats.  Can’t say I blame anyone, the love of something that fast and that powerful shouldn’t be something that goes away easily.  What isn’t being talked about is the Viper.  The Viper is going through a bit of a rough patch, but for fans of it, Road and Track features an article on the Viper ACR that should show there is still plenty to love about the supercar.

It turns out that Dodge is keeping mum on something pretty impressive about the ACR.  The writer for Road and Track found out about it at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.  Turns out that the Viper ACR has set a track record.  The previous record was held by the Porsche 918 Spyder, “a car seven times the Viper’s price.”

That’s insane to hear, and if you’re like the writer, it’s boggling to understand why Dodge is sitting on this.  Surely having the ability to advertise fastest lap for the Viper would be a major selling point to the buyers.  The team behind the Viper even had the ACR run the track twice and manage to set the record twice in a row.  So why the secrecy?

Turns out it is to make sure no one else can claim the record.  As the writer says, it’s to avoid having a hybrid hypercar beat the time.  Even if they do beat it, now they have to do it twice to really trounce the Viper ACR’s time.
