Dealerships Start Taking Orders for 2013 SRT Viper

Viper fans, the wait is over!

A few weeks ago, SRT announced that dealerships are now accepting customer orders on the long-anticipated 2013 SRT Viper. Two different models will be available, the SRT Viper and the Viper GTS. The SRT Viper is advertised as a more visceral driving experience while the GTS is pitched as a “grand touring coupe” that can handle twisting roads and difficult courses. Starting price for the SRT Viper is $97,395 and the Viper GTS starts at $120,395.

Though it has been a long wait for the Viper, SRT is ensuring that it is worth the wait with more customizable features than ever. Drivers can choose from six distinct colors including Adrenaline Red, Black Venom, Bright White, Gunmetal Pearl, Race Yellow, and Shadow Blue Pearl, and those who choose the Viper GTS will also have the choice of Stryker Red Tinted Pearl and GTS Blue. Racing stripes, an exterior carbon fiber package, a carbon fiber aero package, a variety of wheel options, top-of-the-line audio systems, and several interior packages are only the beginning. Jalopnik Reviews 2013 SRT Viper GTS

How would you like to be called up by Chrysler one morning and asked to test drive the new SRT Viper? What if they sweetened the deal by flying you out to California to compare said test drive with the 2006 Viper?  Such seems to be the life of a writer for Jaloponik which causes me all kinds of jealous rage.

Mike Spinelli was given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the highly anticipated 2013 SRT Viper GTS. What was his take on it? I would say he walked away so impressed that it left him dizzy. So much so that he is telling his readers to to realigned their expectations of the modern sports car.

His love for the Viper is apparently through-out. Most notably is how much his thoughts on the interior design has changed. The old insides where “cramped, cheap, and had a transmission tunnel that could cook a standing rib roast.” Thanks to the upgrades that were made with the Kevlar cushion and fiberglass shell, those previous complaints are gone. “The cockpit feels more snug, which is a subtle difference, but an important one.”

All it took was spending a day with the past and present of the Viper to turn one car lover into a devoted fan of the new SRT. “The new Viper is everything a sports car should be, tight, capable, immensely powerful, usable, and absolutely out of its goddamn mind.”
