2013 SRT Viper is Putting the Top Down

UntitledThere’s good news and bad news concerning the 2013 SRT Viper. The good news is that drivers are loving it. That, however, leads into the the bad news, though, unfortunately is that they are sold out. All 800 units of the super car have been purchased (3 of which we know went to Jay Leno).

If you’re in the market for purchasing the new Viper, don’t fret. The company has made it quite clear that they intend to have more available as soon as possible. Chrysler is looking to have about another 700 ready for pre-order in the near future.

That’s not the only news nugget out about the new Viper. With the release of the vehicle completed, it’s time to ask, “What’s next?” In this case, what comes next is bring the roof down, literally.

Ralph Gilles, the CEO of SRT Brand, has started talking about the desire to turn the 2013 SRT Viper into a convertible. As he put it, “The car is designed to be a convertible. Under the skin is a convertible chassis. It’s already there- the stiffness is there. It’s extremely easy should that come, but we’re not in any rush.”

Currently, Chrysler is predicting that a convertible version won’t be out until around 2015. Gilles doesn’t see this as the next step of the vehicle, more like just an additional version of the car.
